The difference between a callback and a booking is perspective. It’s about understanding the commercial production system that you are part of, and how your work in the audition makes that system go. Your audition is the opportunity to help or hurt that system.
If you help things run better, you will book more.
Find the absolute confidence that comes from understanding what your job really is, and how to do it. There are rules to this commercial thing that most people involved don’t understand. Master what it takes to step forth with what it takes to BOOK.
THEN… test it out with a Commercial Casting Director and go home with confidence that you know what you are doing.
Day 1: PREPARATION AND PRACTISE
Saturday, Dec 8th
Jessie will kick the day off with an overview the ins and outs of the industry, talk about the booking perspective that comes when you fully understand how commercial casting and production all works.
Then it’s time to get on your feet and get on camera. Working in a group setting with Jessie you’ll cover the key aspects of the commercial audition (eg. preparing, improv, slating, tell us something about yourself, working in group settings, and more).
Finally, be given multiple commercial auditions to prepare and work on camera, and then as a group you’ll review and develop an eye for what works and why.
Day 2: CALLBACKS WITH CASTING
Sunday, Dec 9th
Actors will have “callbacks” with Sean Milliken one of Vancouver’s busiest commercial casting directors.
Work your materials from day one with Sean. He’ll help you see things from the Casting point of view, and build your confident understanding of what is bookable.
Wrap the day up with Q&A and head off ready to serve your industry and book some gigs!
